I'd be surprised if all the gnome-1 dependencies needed for gnucash 1.8.11 will ever work on an Intel Mac.

The good news is that gnucash 2.0 is almost real (if you were really optimistic, maybe only 3 weeks away, but in software, such optimism is rarely warranted). After that it will take a little while for the fink package to make an appearance.

Since I don't have an Intel Mac, I can't say for certain, but it should be a lot more likely that gnome-2 pieces can at least be fixed to work on the Intel architecture.

FWIW, gnucash 1.9.x works pretty well on fink supplied dependencies on a G5 system. OFX Direct Connect is also very close to really working well (but we need a new release of libofx before all the current capabilities can be packaged).

Sorry to sound like a shill, but I think gnucash 2 will be out sooner than you could fix all the gnome-1/MacIntel issues.

Yeah, I know. Unstable. I'm running on an iMacIntel and I receive the following error message:

GnuCash startup windows appear and then I receive the GnuCash error message: GuppiPlugInSpec (process 1130) has crashed due to a fatal error (Bus error)

Background:

1a)The error that comes from a 'clean' install is simply 'Bus error' at the command line. After practicing stable software installations, I uninstalled/reinstalled fink and loaded only the first presented option for GnuCash dependent packages. 1b) Out of idle curiosity, I tried to load the fink version of OpenOffice. The installation failed but I got the more detailed GnuCash error message mention above.

2) I bought the iMacIntel last weekend and I'm trying to bring over my 'mission critical' applications from my dying SuSE laptop. The number one application I want to bring over is GnuCash. Yes, a 'free' copy of Quicken came with the iMacIntel. The online information transfer format (QFX) in Mac Quicken is not selectable because Quicken is trying to force my bank to pay 'support' costs. A pox on both their houses but I'm most annoyed with Quicken.

Help.

Chuck
