Could you show "ls -la" of this director? Maybe something is wrong with
the permissions. Or perhaps either fonts.conf or fonts.dtd contain some
garbage. I have already seen that the one I got from the bindist xfree86
package contains a nonsense line
<dir>/Users/fink/Library/Fonts</dir>
I would believe that this is harmless, but one never knows...
