i'm new to fink. i'm using finkcommander on mac os x 10.4. i'm trying to get
the latest monodevelop package. i am wondering about how to make sure my
fink installation has the most up-to-date package versions. for instance, if
i run

$ fink list | grep monodevelop
monodevelop 0.9-1022 Integrated Development Environment for C#

does that mean the version i can install is 0.9 (build 1022)?
i know that the monoodevelop project has moved on to version 0.13.1. i
would like to keep pace. is there a way to tell fink to use a tar.gz file
that i download, rather then getting from cvs? or do i need to run a command
to update my package version list?
