Hi, I'm relatively inexperienced when it comes to Unix but I did manage to
compile Amarok using fink a few months ago. It had been working fine until
a few days ago, when it started to give me an error message when starting it
from the X11 applications menu:
DCOP communications error (Amarok)
There was an error setting up inter-process communications for KDE. The
message returned by the system was:
Could not read network connection list.
/Users/username/.DCOPserver_hostname.local___0
Please check that "dcopserver" program is running!
After I click OK, Amarok starts up normally, with the only problem I can
tell being that when I play a file, the "last played" column won't update
until the next time I load Amarok. Still, it's been bugging me, especially
since it was working before, which means I must've screwed something up...
I've found tips for this problem under Ubuntu which say to make sure that
the ownership on KDE files isn't set to root, but I'm not sure what the
equivalent files to check under OS X and fink are. I do know my ~/.kde
folder ownership is set to my user name.
Sorry if this is the wrong list. Thanks for any help! It's greatly
appreciated.
