I have been running into some troubles with GnuCash 2.2.1 not doing online
quotes, and so I tried to update-all in fink, hoping it would, well, update all
my installed packages and let me see whether my troubles went away.

Suffice to say (since I am sending this message), it didn't work. The command
crapped out repeatedly, even after issuing selfupdate, fink reinstall fink and
a few voodoo incantations (okay, they were anglo-saxon in origin). So I went
through the list of about 240 packages that fink said it had to update (where
do they all come from?!?), and individually installed a boatload of them,
getting it down to a mere 79 packages (plus an additional 17). Most of these
remaining packages seem to rely on orbit2, which I can't get to update. I have
seen a lot of traffic on the list about orbit2 and Leopard, but I am using
Tiger. Any ideas/ suggestions?

MacIntel 10.4.10
macbook:~ david$ fink --version
Package manager version: 0.27.9
Distribution version: 0.8.1.rsync i386

Cheers,
David
