1) Install Fink.

2) Optionally update Fink as per

This will require you to have the Xcode Tools installed.
3) Install gmt using
sudo apt-get install gmt
from a terminal window. This will work even if you don't have Xcode
installed. If you do, then you can use
fink install gmt
as well.
