Hi Charles,
My gcc comes with Xcode 3.2 (current on the developer site).

* My Xcode version: xcodebuild -version
Xcode 3.2

* My gcc version: gcc --version | head -n 1
i686-apple-darwin10-gcc-4.2.1 (GCC) 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5646)

I'm on an Intel Core Duo MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard) which means that I
cannot boot into 64-bit mode, but I can run 64-bit apps. However, I'm
using the 32-bit tree for now.

I'm happy to try things, but I'm not able to figure out what's wrong. (I
have only a little fink-fu, but I'm no programmer.)
