I am trying to install the fink source release on an iMac running
Leopard 10.5.8, with XCode 3.1.2

I've unpacked the fink-0.9.0-full tarball, but the installation pukes at
running "bootstrap":

$ ./bootstrap
Checking package... looks good (fink-0.27.13).
Checking system...Can't exec "update/config.guess": Permission denied at
./bootstrap line 87.
Use of uninitialized value in scalar chomp at ./bootstrap line 88.
Use of uninitialized value in pattern match (m//) at ./bootstrap line 89.
  ERROR: Can't determine host type.

Running sudo ./bootstrap gives the same output.

What must I do to fix this and get on with the installation?

Cordially,
Mark S. Reglewski
