I think that 'fink' and its downloads are beginning to make MacOS,
well, tolerable. However, trying to install 'teTex' (and a couple
of other packages), I have gotten the message that there are
"inconsistent dependencies". The advice is to run

   fink scanpackages
   sudo apt-get update
   sudo apt-get install libgettext3-dev=0.14.5-2

First of all, this seems strange---see the '=' in the name. After
reading through your beginner's FAC, I tried

   /sw/bin/fink selfupdate
   /sw/bin/fink install gettest-tools

I then tried

   /sw/bin/fink install libgettext3-dev-0.14.5-2

While the two-liner from the FAC worked ("no packages to install"),
the libgettext install gave me the same error that I started out
with ('=' sign and all).

Someting is amiss here.
