According to the above, _you_ set Fink up for i386.  That's why it's 
compiling for i386. If you're using a 64-bit kernel, for example, that 
should mean nothing.  Some packages _did_ try to set their builds based 
on the running kernel, but I think they are now set up not to do that 
anymore.

If you want Fink to use x86_64, you have to set it up that way when you 
install it.

about how to capture your list of installed packages if you would like 
to switch to x86_64.
