1)  Your issue is with gcc46, not netcdf(7)-gfortran.

2)  netcdf-fortran5 is the newest released version of the netCDF FORTRAN
bindings (sorry about the somewhat confusing numbering in the respective
package names)

As per:

temporarily rename /usr/local while you do your build, and then you can
rename it back.
