Thanks Hanspeter, I suspected as much. The -devel list email appears to have a potential fix also.
The email includes a question as to whether daemonic should be still supported? I would say definitely, with appropriate fixes so that the Yosemite startup method is supported behind the standard daemonic package. Thanks! R.
