I use it all the time, because of the very usefuly features it has 
over the standard tools. Like "ls --color" and many other things.

The problem with mkdir is not really to blame on fileutils, as I 
tried to outline in my file, but an OS bug. We still want to work 
around it in mkdir. The same bug is affecting rm, too, i think (not 
sure if that is the only problem with rm, what was the other again?)
