Anyway, i think Jeremy referred to something slightly different: 
where to get the splitoff packages he needs for testing.

Jeremy, those can be found in the "shared-libraries" CVS module. You 
just have to check that out manually in a place you like. Then go 
into the "splitoff" subdir, and copy all the info/patch files to a 
place where Fink finds them, e.g. in my case 
/sw/fink/dists/local/main/finkinfo
