I was just told that we have a GNU shellutils package in CVS. I removed it for now.
Please read https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=17203&atid=414256&func=detail&aid=537755 for details I am not religious about this, but I think we should at least discuss it, and if we decide we want to change our oppinion and allow this package, then the least we have to do is to verify it works on 10.1 & 10.2, takes aways nothing compared to the BSD commands (I doubt that would be the case... alas, if you look at BSD tar vs GNU tar, then GNU is not strictly more powerful, BSD tar has some nice tricks up its sleeve... but I disgress :-). Also, at least for the core commands, we have to verify they work correctly. These commands are quite critical for the correct workings of the system and Fink. Yes I know the GNU tools are used by Linux and are quite reliable, I do not doubt that, but remember that e.g. rm from the fileutils doesn't work properly on OS X due to a bug in the OS. The same could easily be the case here.
