Dear fink developers, Over the past few weeks, I added BuildDepends on bzip2-dev, gettext-dev, libiconv-dev and/or ncurses-dev to many many packages. The corresponding "splitoff" versions of these essential packages have now been added to the unstable tree, and will move to stable after a testing period.
Please be sure, when revising any of your current packages, to check and see if there is a new BuildDepends, which should be preserved in future versions and revisions. The way to test whether this (or other) -dev's are necessary for the BuildDepends line is to examine the libraries and executables from your package, using "otool -L". It will report on the libraries which are linked in, and generally you must specify a BuildDepends on the corresponding -dev package. The libraries for these essential packages are still essential, but the headers and symlinks in the -dev package are no longer essential and must be explicitly specified. -- Dave ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: VM Ware With VMware you can run multiple operating systems on a single machine.
