Guys, BackPAN holds old modules.  It doesn't have the latest versions.
At best you can use backpan as the "last resort" CPAN mirror to find a
deleted module.

If you really want to indemnify yourself against CPAN authors deleting
versions you're still using, run your own CPAN mirror.  Mirror the new stuff 
from funet.fi and combine it with the old stuff from BackPAN.  BackPAN is a 
few gigs, but it doesn't change very often so rsync should be able to make
short work of it after the initial download.
