Actually, there was a discussion, in which I proposed that we adopt a new policy in which we explicitly choose to have variants whenever there is a difference among the variants. We had the discussion twice: the first time, when Dan Macks was just starting to implement the code which will allow the creation of several variant pm* packages with a single .info file, and the second time, when Dan's code was finished and I was about to start implementing the change. Noone objected on either occasion, and this is now enshrined in fink policy:

After today's additions, I detected a small problem with the policy as I've been implementing it, and I will soon revise our perl packages (and also fink itself), so that all of the things which the perl packages "Provide" are versioned. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by Sleepycat Software Learn developer strategies Cisco, Motorola, Ericsson & Lucent use to deliver higher performing products faster, at low TCO. http://www.sleepycat.com/telcomwpreg.php?From=osdnemail3 _______________________________________________ Fink-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-devel
