Have you looked at the odcctools project
<http://www.opendarwin.org/projects/odcctools/>? It can also be used to
build gcc-4.0 on panther. Perhaps a package could be made of that that
installs somewhere out-of-the-way, and you can put the location at the head
of the PATH when building gcc-4.0.
Another point is that we already have a cctools package:
~ i cctools 525-1 [virtual package.....]
Can you not builddepend on cctools (>= 528.5-1)? Or does our cctools virtual
package guessing code not work correctly?

You're right - I should have done that. I'll try and fix it. Hopefully I have gotten people too confused already.
