The pdb-update script is cron'ed to run every 8 hours, and on a good
day takes about 10 minutes. Sometimes (often, actually) sql.sf.net is
so bogged down that the injection takes longer than the limit for idle
connections on shell.sf.net, and the pdb-update script gets killed

Has shell.sf.net re-enabled cron? Should we re-write the updater to
inject to a secondary table and then copy to the main table all at
once (so that the whole update is atomic from the web-user's point of
view)? Should we move off SF?
