Isn't it supposed to build against python 2.2 rather than 2.3? (I have
Fink's versions of both installed.) [Mac OS X 10.4.2, XCode 2.1]

Actually, according to the commit log, it was supposed to have been
modified to build vs. python23. It looks like there are some python22
references still laying around in th e build though--I've posted a
gzipped build log at
http://ldx3.psfc.mit.edu/~hansen/pilot-link.txt.gz
