Yeah, it's clear that a user may still have to install things via Fink, and Fink shouldn't block that entirely.
Here's what I'm planning on doing. I'm going to modify Fink's algorithm for deciding when it's safe to install things. The new algorithm will leave intact any broken dependencies with are pre- existing, but it will make sure that NEW problems are not introduced.
Will that be a good enough fix? I'd rather not have an option to allow Fink to automatically mess up a user's system, it's not really safe.
