Those threads seemed to have answered my question. In my tex sources, I had my own little \ifpdf business going on which broke from tetex-2 to tetex-3, resulting in only producing pdf output. I simply replaced it with \usepackage{ifpdf} and I can confirm that my documents work with both version 2 and 3. Thank you (merci!) very much for the pointers. > The main source for the problem is that old config files from a previous > tex installation can interfere with the installation of a new tetex > package. From following those threads, the latex.ini and other configuration files look fine at first glance. So I'm not sure if my old (replaced) installation can still cause future problems. Should one wish to expurgate all traces of the old installation, for safety, what would be the proper procedure to guarantee cleanliness? some combination of fink uninstall/rebuild/reinstall?
