So I went to look at /usr/bin/login and found this (sorry it's long):

I don't see what the contents of /usr/bin/login would have to do with
it... It looks like you've got something setting a bad alias in
~/.profile or ~/.bashrc (or there's a fink package doing so, in
/sw/etc/profile.d)
