OK, this time the message lied.  This means that you don't have an X11
distribution installed.  There currently isn't one in the binary
distribution, so you have a couple of options:

1) install Apple's X11 (the runtime parts [X11User.pkg] are in the 
optional package install section of your OS media and the
headers--which you'll need if you want ever to build anything
X11-related from source--come with XCode.  You may even have the
headers installed already but not the runtime part)

2) Install the Fink xfree86 or xorg packages from source.
