Here is a message from the maintainer of the xquartz updates to the x11-users list. The message means that the breakage of tcltk will be over as soon as xquartz-2.3.1 comes out.
OTOH, the patch for tcltk I proposed will change *strictly nothing* when tcltk is compiled with any X11 different from xquartz-2.3.0, but it fixes the current breakage with xquartz-2.3.0, so there is still a reason to go ahead with it. There are people currently waiting for this fix, because all their Fink-installed software that uses Tk does not work.
