To quote our freetype219-2.3.8-2 package internal notes:
# 2.3.9 breaks ABI!!!!! (and doesn't bump c_v for new public functions)
That means upgrading will break an unknown (but possibly up to
*every*) existing package that uses it. 2.3.{10,11} perpetuate the
same breakage...freetype devels are well-known around fink to not give
a damn about interface stability or how much damage they do by
breaking it in nearly every minor release. So we might be able to shim
the new version to match (or at least not break upgrade from) old
version, but it will take time.
Do you have specific information about what's buggy in 2.3.8 (maybe we
could import some limited patches from their newer versions)?
