We ought to revisit those packages in fink 10.7 which previously have
required
llvm-gcc-4.2 and check if this is still true with the clang 3.1svn compilers in
Xcode 4.3. Just as Xcode 4.2 depreciated gcc-4.2 under Lion, I wouldn't be
shocked
to see llvm-gcc-4.2 deprecated out of a later Xcode under Mountain Lion. Those
packages which now compile under clang 3.1svn can BuildDepends on xcode (>=
4.3).
This would allow us to focus on those remaining problem packages to ensure that
radar reports are filed for the defects in llvm or clang that remain so we have
a decent chance of Apple addressing them in Mountain Lion's Xcode 4.4. Hopefully
this won't be as problematic as llvm-gcc-4.2 bugs were (when Apple effectively
froze llvm-gcc-4.2 for use as the Lion system compiler). Only now that Xcode 4.3
switched the default system compilers to clang/clang++ did Apple start adding
a significant number of backported fixes from llvm.org (as seen by the fact
that llvm-gcc-4.2 in Xcode 4.3 can now bootstrap FSF gcc).
