Hello all.

I've got a couple of questions that hopefully someone could answer.

1) I'm trying to install qt (via fink install qt) since it's not available
via dselect (not in "stable"). The site appears to be unreachable from my
work Mac maybe due to our firewall. Who knows. Anyway, can I simply
download the file at home and transfer it to my /sw/src directory (via
sneaker net) and then run fink install qt and fink find it in my src
directory?

2) I'm in dire need of gcc 3.x being available. Any ideas when this might
be available from Apple, or other means, that would work in OS X.1? We've
got a "large" framework of C++ code that runs on Linux and IRIX but until
gcc 3 was available it required costly commercial compilers (pushes C++
functionality hard). gcc 3 fixed the bugs and now our framework compiles
and runs great in version 3. I'd love to make the move from Linux to OS X
ASAP. The only hold-up is getting a later version of gcc on OS X.

Thanks for any help you can offer. Thanks especially to the developers of
Fink. Y'all are wonderful!! If Apple's not paying you they sure should be.
OS X and the unix core is wonderful. It's allowing us to have one computing
platform.

    Jeff
