Hi.

I posted a statement a few days ago about a problem installing atlas 
(see below).  I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for 
working around the problem (or even a guess about what the problem 
is).  I did some not-very-thorough poking around at the site 
suggested by the diagnostic output 
(http://math-atlas.sourceforge.net/errata.html) to see if I was 
encountering some known problem, but I didn't find anything relevant.
