I guess I just don't grok Fink and all this Darwin stuff. Sorry to
keep plaguing the list.

I downloaded xfree86-server and at the end of a long download, I saw this:

Building Release 6.5 of the X Window System.

I hope you checked the configuration parameters in ./config/cf
to see if you need to pass BOOTSTRAPCFLAGS.

Mon Feb 25 00:44:39 PST 2002

cd ./config/imake && make  -f Makefile.ini BOOTSTRAPCFLAGS="" CC="cc" clean
rm -f ccimake imake.o imake
rm -f *.CKP *.ln *.BAK *.bak *.o core errs ,* *~ *.a tags TAGS make.log \#*
rm -f -r Makefile.proto Makefile Makefile.dep bootstrap
make  Makefile.boot
cd ./config/imake && make  -f Makefile.ini BOOTSTRAPCFLAGS="" CC="cc"
making imake with BOOTSTRAPCFLAGS= in config/imake
cc -o ccimake  -O -I../../include -I../../imports/x11/include/X11 ccimake.c
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/libSystem.dylib load command 6 unknown cmd field
make[2]: *** [ccimake] Error 1
make[1]: *** [imake.proto] Error 2
make: *** [World] Error 2
###  failed, exit code 2
Failed: compiling xfree86-server-4.1.0-5 failed

It's not even as comprehensible as Greek to me.
