Since I haven't received an answer to this question I try to reformulate it
with a more specific subject.

So there's another thing I don't understand: from dselect in fact I see that
pan version I have installed is 0.11.1-1 and all other packages installed
are of the same version of the one available; for another example the fink
package manager I have installed is version 0.9.6a-1, the same that is
available. But the command 'fink --version' gives me:

Package manager version: 0.9.6a
Distribution version: 0.3.1
---
while I was expecting distribution version 0.3.2a.

I believed, as I can read in the faq, that to update fink it was only
necessary to "Update normally through dselect: Choose "[U]pdate", then
"[I]nstall", what I have done, so why is there this difference?
