Hi,

I downloaded and built gimp-1.2.3-2. Everything seemed to go
pretty well. I've learned to ignore the usual assortment of
multiple definitions while linking libraries. And this is the
first of dozens (?) of similar warnings from gap_filter_iterators.c
(slightly reformatted to fit within the margins):

   cc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I../..
-I../.. -I../../intl
   -I/sw/include/gtk-1.2 -I/sw/include/glib-1.2 -I/sw/lib/glib/include
-I/usr/X11R6/include
   -I/sw/include -DLOCALEDIR=\""/sw/share/locale"\" -no-cpp-precomp
-I/sw/include -I/sw/include
   -DGTK_DISABLE_COMPAT_H -no-cpp-precomp -Wall -c gap_filter_iterators.c
   In file included from gap_filter_iterators.c:391:
   iter_ALT/mod/plug_in_Twist_iter_ALT.inc: In function
`p_plug_in_Twist_iter_ALT':
   iter_ALT/mod/plug_in_Twist_iter_ALT.inc:37: warning: int format, long
int arg (arg 4)

And when all was said and done, dpkg replaced my old gimp-1.2.2-6
with the new gimp-1.2.3-2, and I tried it out, and I got these
messages in my xterm while gimp was starting up (again reformatted
for email):

   dyld: /sw/lib/gimp/1.2/plug-ins/Lighting can't open library:
/sw/lib/libgck-1.2.2.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)

   LibGimp-WARNING **: gimp-real: wire_read: unexpected EOF
   dyld: /sw/lib/gimp/1.2/plug-ins/MapObject can't open library:
/sw/lib/libgck-1.2.2.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)

   LibGimp-WARNING **: gimp-real: wire_read: unexpected EOF

gimp comes up, and the couple of very simple things (open a file,
scribble on it) I tried work.

dpkg -S gck gives me this:

   gimp: /sw/lib/libgck-1.2.3.0.0.3.dylib
   gimp: /sw/lib/libgck.a
   gimp: /sw/lib/libgck.dylib
   gimp: /sw/include/gck/gck.h
   gimp: /sw/lib/libgck.la
   gimp: /sw/lib/libgck-1.2.3.0.dylib
   gimp: /sw/include/gck

and the contents of /sw/lib agree.

Do I have a real question? No, not as long as gimp does the few
simple things I use it for. OTOH, that sort of warning from a
running program can't be a good sign, so I thought I'd let someone
know.

Alexander: I copied you directly on this email. If you follow
the mailing list, just say so, and I'll stop that practice.

Oops, I almost forgot:
   package manager version 0.9.8;
   distribution version 0.3.2a.cvs.

Regards,
Dan
