I wiped my OS X partition and reinstalled OS X 10.1.3 to try to sort
out some problems. Now I'm reinstalling a bunch of stuff with Fink.
I decided to compile everything from scratch rather than use my
backed up .debs, as I can't be sure they weren't affected by the disk
corruption I had.

I've been using Fink very happily for several months, but now I've
run into a problem that has me stumped.

Fink version:
"[localhost:~] kwh% fink -V
Package manager version: 0.9.9a
Distribution version: 0.3.2a.cvs"

I've got the Dec 2001 Developer Tools, plus the update.

I'm set up to use stable. I don't currently have anything from
unstable copied into my local tree. I did a fink selfupdate this
morning. It claims to be using cvs. I got xfree86, openssh,
windowmaker and xephem installed and working again, but I'm having
troubles with gnumeric.

Extract from Terminal:

"[localhost:~] kwh% fink install gnumeric
sudo /sw/bin/fink install gnumeric
Password:
Reading package info...
Information about 376 packages read in 4 seconds.
pkg gnumeric version ###
pkg gnumeric version 1.0.2-5

fink needs help picking an alternative to satisfy a virtual dependency. The
candidates:

(1) gnome-vfs: The GNOME virtual file-system libraries
(2) gnome-vfs-ssl: The GNOME virtual file-system libraries

Pick one: [1]
Failed: Internal error: node for libjpeg already exists"

I tried a fink install gnome-vfs, but I got the same error. I tried
to remove libjpeg, but that means removing a lot of other stuff due
to dependencies, so I aborted that.

I looked in the documentation, and the FAQ, but I can't find anything
that seems to fit my situation. I tried searching the archives via
the link from the Fink page at Sourceforge, but that gave me nothing
useful.

Can anyone suggest what to try next?

Thanks,

Kevin Horton
