Thanks to Alexander on his tip for GIMP.

I posted an earlier message in hopes of installing jove, and I'm hoping
someone might be able to tell me if *this* version (different from my
previous massage) can install on an Apple / Mac OS X:

I found a different version of jove, which was accessed from the "Prime Time
Freeware" site, at http://ptf.com/ptf/ (the people who put out "The Darwin
Collection."

Going to the link with the heading:

"The FreeBSD Ports Collection for Darwin and Mac OS X."

I searched for "jove" and found it at this address:

ftp://ftp.FreeBSD.org/pub/FreeBSD/branches/-current/ports/editors/jove/

I'm assuming that since the link to the search page says it's for "Darwin
and Mac OS X" that it *could* run on a Apple running OS X. If you can tell
me if you have an idea as to whether or not this (different) package can
install on a Mac, and/or any tips on doing so, I'd really appreciate it
(there doesn't seem to be a read-me with installation tips).

If anyone can tell me if this *could* be installed on Mac OS X, that would
be great. Any tips on possibly using fink to do so, or any other means,
including directing me to useful info, would be gravy.

Thanks again,

Andrew Rouner

P.S. -- Here's my set-up:

Obviously, I'm running Mac OS X, on a Powermac G4. I installed XFree86 4.2
independently of fink. I then installed fink, and used it to install GIMP
and Xemacs, both of which work fine and which fink has updated to the latest
versions; fink also self-updated.
