Help I seem to be on the bleeding edge in stable (and it hurts) and need to backtrack a little bit.
Preparing to replace gnome-core 1.4.0.4-12 (using .../gnome- core_1.4.0.6-2_darwin-powerpc.deb) ... Unpacking replacement gnome-core ... Setting up gnome-core (1.4.0.6-2) ... [tested and panels did not work but menu displays fine] [darwin:~] williamt% sudo apt-get install gnome-core=1.4.0.4-12 Password: Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done E: Version '1.4.0.4-12' for 'gnome-core' was not found [this worked last week but I can't seem to get it to work now] My question is how do I get the old one to reinstall as the new one will NOT work correctly for me? (I have rebuilt glib, gtk+, imlib, orbit, audiofile, esound, libxml, gnome-libs, gdk-pixbuf, libghttp, libglade, libgtop, gnome-print, control-center, and gnome-core in that order) Also nethack 3.4.0-1 has lost the graphics so I want to use the older version (how do I find the version #) of it also. *****I can't find the docs containing info on how to do this.***** [darwin:~] williamt% fink --version Package manager version: 0.9.11 Distribution version: 0.4.0.cvs [darwin:~] williamt% apt-get --version apt 0.5.4 for darwin powerpc compiled on Nov 3 2001 04:53:01 Supported Modules: *Ver: Standard .deb *Pkg: Debian dpkg interface (Priority 20) S.L: 'deb' Standard Debian binary tree S.L: 'deb-src' Standard Debian source tree Idx: Debian Source Index Idx: Debian Package Index Idx: Debian dpkg status file Willy Murphy was definitely an optimist.
