There are two conflicting versions of install-info out there, and I'm not
sure of the history. You need to disable the one which comes with teTeX,
and use the one which comes with dpkg. The key point is to get /sw/sbin
ahead of /usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin5.3 in your path.

When teTeX is installed directly via fink, we just remove teTeX's
install-info. For people like you who have installed teTeX externally,
there is a fink package "system-tetex" which tells fink about the
installation and which (among other things) sets up your path with /sw/bin
and /sw/sbin at the beginning, and
/usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current at the end.
