I sent in feedback on Ximian's site, and had a short email conversation
with one of their employees, Jocelyn Parker. I am cc'ing her on this
message so that she knows that there is still interest in seeing Ximian
Connector on OSX/Darwin.

We do not currently have plans to support OS X.
Now, there's a project called FINK that has been porting a lot
of UNIX and Linux software to OS X, including Evolution. You
can find them at http://fink.sourceforge.net/. However, that's
not a 'true' OS X application-- it's not taking advantage of
the Carbon or Cocoa APIs and it's not using the Aqua interface.
Some individuals have been able to compile and run Evolution
under X-for-Darwin using the GNU toolchain, but those are expert
BSD programmers who run Darwin with the X windowing system more
often than OS X proper.

Oh well.

:)
Yes, I'm an active Fink user, including participating in the
mailing lists and helping other people in their efforts to use
Fink to install Gnome, Evolution, and everything else.
Connector isn't one of the parts that can be installed via Fink
though, and I think a lot of people would like to have access
to that, & would be willing to pay for it, even if it's X11
instead of X/Aqua.
But otherwise, yeah. I'm typing this right now in Pine running
in a Gnome Terminal running on XDarwin. It's great being able
to toggle between OSX and Gnome at will :)

Thanks for your input. I will pass this along to development.
I have attached some info on where to make recommendations for
development in the future...
Bug Reports and Development Information:
If you wish to submit a bug report or feature request for
Ximian software, please visit http://bugzilla.ximian.com.
If you would like to get source code or contribute to Ximian
software development, please visit http://developer.ximian.com.

So, there you go.
If there is interest in helping to get Connector running with Evolution on
OSX/X11 (or better still, but not necessarily, OSX/Aqua), these are the
URLs you should start with. If there is enough interest, maybe Ximian will
get behind this idea...
