Two questions here, kinda related to each other.

After getting the XFree86 base downloaded and compiled(finally, after
the 6th try), the install failed out at the very end saying that a
previous XFree86 was already installed and the installer refused to
overwrite it. Can anyone tell me where the installation checks for
existing installs so that I can delete the old cruft safely and not
accidentally toast the new X base that Fink compiled? I'm hesistant to
toast /usr/X11R6, /etc/X11, and /Applications/XDarwin.app per the FAQ
cause I dunno if any of these are the freshly compiled stuff or the old
one's that are causing the grief. I REALLY don't want to go through that
X compile again!

I've been fighting for a while to get Fink updated to 0.4.0 and have it
cleanly running now after having given up and rm'ing /sw and starting
over again. I had a really old Fink installed from previously installing
the MacGimp port. Any Gimp fans out there know how the Gimp installer
works? Specifically, now that I've got Fink up to date, if I re-run the
installer from the MacGimp CD, will it waste my new Fink and put it's
old Fink back in over it?

Any help greatly appreciated!

-Heidi
