You didn't then, but you did now :)
I was just teasing. Your uname output had your full hostname, and on a
whim I tried pinging it. It worked. If anything else is accessible, I
didn't try & wouldn't know. Just be aware that your machine is globally
accessible, so try not to run any services you don't have locked
down... :)

Well it still seems to me that your .info files inder /sw/fink are
corrupted (that or Fink *itself* is corrupted [or one of the tools it
relies on internally], and can't read valid info files as a result --
let's assume that isn't it for now). My next idea would be to move
/sw/fink/dists out of the way -- let's say "mv /sw/fink/dists
/sw/fink/dists_that_might_be_broken" or something -- and *then* try
another selfupdate-cvs. This time around you should get a completely new
copy of the package catalog. If you have problems with it, then the
issue is somewhere else ("he said, ominously..."). It might be
instructive to compare one of the new package files this gives you to
one of the supposedly-idential moved versions that was giving you error
messages. Maybe something obvious will jump out at you, or could be
passed along to the list for others to examine.
