Hello all, I've been trying to help someone (Jonas) display Swedish characters (from a post awhile back) in gnumeric. Problem I'm having now is that when I try to change something in the gnome menu editor to a different language, I'm not allowed because I don't have those privileges. I'd assume this is because fink install the /sw and that is owned by root. So the gnome menu editor can't save changes because I'm not logged in as root. Would this be a correct understanding of the situation? If so, how do I work around it? " You can't add an entry to that submenu. You don't have the proper permissions." when trying to add items (like apps that gnome doesn't "see" yet). For apps that it does see such as gnumeric, I can select another language, but can't save it because the "save" button under advanced is grayed out.
Another confusing point regarding this is that control-center works fine and doesn't have these problems. That makes me think it could actually be a missing lib that supports more languages, but I'm not sure since I've tons of languages listed as options (with descriptions displayed in those languages that I can't read). Any help much appreciated. Brandon Potter P.S.-I've copied to the pkg maintainer for gnome in case it's a gnome prob and to the pkg maintainer for gnumeric in case this is something that should be really simple for that app. I didn't see much in the way of replies when Jonas first brought up the Swedish character problem, but I've duplicated it and am stumped. I have gnome desktop installed and he just has the gnome core libs installed for gnome apps to run.
