Would it be possible to write a script that checks to see if X is 
running, and if not launch it and then the program? Or could 
Applescript do something similar? I know nothing about how applescript 
interacts with the command line(if at all). Either way, you'd have to 
have a check every time there is a request to run anything, 
messy...hmm(this is how you think aloud while typing) :)
