I bet there is also some advice about moving this out of the way. If you do a "cvs log" on this file, you see that it is "dead" since about two weeks, meaning it is no longer in the repository, and it shouldn't be in yours. cvs tries to remove it, but for some reason it thinks that you modified the file, so it doesn't feel authorized to remove it, because it might be that you wish to conserve your local modifications. So it signals a "conflict" , hence the "C", meaning it proposes some manual intervention, and the automatic selfupdate script fails.
