Norton Anti-Virus never gave me any problems except for when using patch, since I am not a developer I don't know wether or not it directly causes probs w/ gcc, but I do know that it never had any probs w/ javac. However I recommend against the SystemWorks suite, in my opinion it's not worth the money. DiskWarrior/Plus Optimizer from a bootable OS 9 cd seems to do a better defrag job and I've never had any need of the other bundled utilities. Norton SystemWorks for Windows is, imho, a truly excellent product. Sadly the same does not seem to be the case for the Mac version. As a I general rule I always recommend some sort of AV software no matter the platform, whether it be Norton, MacKaffee, RAV, or something else. It's no too difficult to remember to kill it either from the command line or the Process Viewer application before compiling. ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Fink-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users
