Hi Martin,

Very strange problem: if I run fink install emacs21 then the configure 
thinks it has to take /lib/cpp. But if I suspend the fink install just 
before the configure and give exactly the same command on the command 
line (as root) it works perfectly well. Could there be a permission 
difference between sudo (fink) and root (command line)? Any idea where 
it could arise? I wonder if someone else will run into the same problem.
