Hello all- On another computer that I have, I'm using the fink 0.4.0 binary distribution (see below about 0.4.1). The ncurses terminfo database has become corrupted (again) and I want to just reinstall ncurses instead of all of fink, like I did last time. (By 'corrupted' I mean that all terminfo files have been replaced by zero-length ones, and commands like clear and dselect don't work.)
However, when attempting to use apt-get to reinstall the ncurses package, I got the following error. I thought then that dpkg might also be corrupted, so I tried to reinstall it, and got the same error: > [localhost:~] nwatzman% sudo apt-get install --reinstall ncurses > Reading Package Lists... Done > Building Dependency Tree... Done > 0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 reinstalled, 0 to remove and 0 not > upgraded. > Need to get 1277kB of archives. Thanks! -- -- sinclair44 P.S. - Before all of this happened (i.e. about a week ago), I used 'sudo dselect' and did an update-then-install. However, 'fink --version' still says I'm using 0.4.0. I tried to do an update to 0.4.1 without using dselect, but only could get the new package descriptions ('sudo apt-get update'); I couldn't figure out how to do the actual updates (if any). ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net emial is sponsored by: Influence the future of Java(TM) technology.
