First of all, I am not on this list (I used to be, but am now free riding more or less) and have not seen any replies sent directly to the list because the archives seem to be down, or updated at some really long delay.
Anyway, I did what Alexander suggested and am still getting crashes, which isn't good. On the other hand, I managed to resolve my immediate problem of having to finish up the document I was working on. :)

This message occurs for me both on an iBook and a PowerMac G4, so I
have verified it twice.
I ran the comamnd fink rebuild lyx to recompile lyx with this apparent
new version of xforms. It did rebuild, but now lyx crashes after about
a minute of use.
I am requesting and/or suggesting that someone put back the old version
of xforms into unstable ASAP, so we people who need to do word
processing can rebuild lyx and get back to work!
