I figured it was just PRAM corruption due to 2 reasons: the date was wrong, and *nothing* was repaired except for resetting Startup Disk. BTW, thanks for reading the whole description! :) With the list of problems at the end, another storm came through last night. The power flickered again, but the computer did not turn off. I managed to shut it down myself before 2 more flickers happened. When I turned it on this morning, it booted at normal speed (for verbose mode) and came up as it should. The slow-app-on-first-launch has been fixed, along with the Vendetta hanging problem. The screens in JK2 demo are still stretched out, and there is still 2-3 seconds of HD activity (that was not present before) when going to sleep. Those problems are minor, however, and if they don't imply further problems, I'm OK just to ignore them. -- -- sinclair44 Optimism: "If you see a light at the end of the wormhole, it's probably an explosion from the death of another borg cube."
