ADC is a secure website that logs people out after 15 minutes. If the user decides to download something--- say a 300 MB file-- the website will refer the request to a password protected FTP site. The password at the FTP site changes on a frequent basis. Each file segment is 10MB long.
This cries out for a perl script, or some other automation system to manage the download over how many dozens of hours it takes.

make sure you put single quotes around the whole URL, also use the -O option probably would help ;-)
