[Fink-users] WHY WHY WHY

Greetings People,
First, I want to apologize for what I am about to say, however, I feel that it needs to be said!
As a fellow software developer (I have 20+ years experience in developing EMBEDDED software), I REALLY Appreciate the hard work that has gone into this project. I hope to, sometime in the near future, join this work, to help and expand packages available to us "embedded developers" on the MAC OS X platform. That said . . .
Since you obviously put some serious thought into how to go and do this project, and took the effort to make sure that this would NOT "pollute" the Apple system (through the choice of using the SW Directory), then WHY, WHY, WHY and I STILL RESTRICTED to installing this on the "BOOT" DRIVE?????? I am completely beside myself here people! After putting ALL this thought into this, you don't allow me to install this on another drive? WHY????? If you have truly "divorced" yourself from the Apple software, then WHY?????
I realize that we've come a long way since my first 10 M (yes, MEG) Seagate Hard Drive hooked up to a modified "fat mac", and that 60 GIG is a lot of space! But as we all know, "all software will grow to fill all available space". That's why I installed a second, 80 GIG drive where I keep my music files, picture files, and where I want to keep the FINK based development stuff (including Gnome, and lots of other stuff).
Having put 90% of the thought into this you have create a wonderful system. BUT, you missed that small, 10% that makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE in the world!
PLEASE, this is not meant to criticize or in any way detract from what you've done. My intention is to see that FINK is IMPROVED and made EVEN BETTER in the long run!.
